Iran Is Ready for Nuclear Deal, Leader Says
Ahmadinejad Revives Plan, but U.S. Says He Hasn’t Made Official Approach; Opposition Leader Lashes Out at Regime

WASHINGTON—Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his government would accept a nuclear fuel-swap agreement overseen by the United Nations, a deal the Obama administration has viewed as central to limiting Tehran’s ability to develop atomic weapons.

The Iranian leader’s announcement on state television Tuesday, however, was immediately greeted with skepticism by Western diplomats, who have watched Tehran flip-flop on the fuel-swap issue since it was proposed in October.

Senior U.S. officials said Mr. Ahmadinejad hadn’t conveyed an agreement to the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency.

“The deal is still on the table,” said State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley. “We don’t exactly know what Ahmadinejad said, but if he’s prepared to say yes, that’s good news. He should contact the IAEA.”

Many U.S. and European diplomats said Mr. Ahmadinejad’s comments appeared designed to upend an accelerating international campaign to sanction Iran for its nuclear work. In recent days, the Obama administration has begun circulating to allied countries the names of Iranian entities—including its central bank and businesses controlled by its elite military unit, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—that Washington wants sanctioned under a new U.N. Security Council resolution, say officials who have seen the list.

“Iran has continued to try and divide the international community on sanctions,” said a European diplomat working on Iran. “I don’t see why this overture would be any different.”

The Obama administration said it wouldn’t renegotiate the terms of the deal…

NBC Rejects Ad From Conservative Group

…Alan Wurtzel, NBC’s head of standards and practices, said the network decided not to run the Freedom’s Watch ad because the group insisted that the spot contain the URL address of its Web site.

The group’s home page links to another Freedom’s Watch Web page that lists nonprofit organizations that are sending care packages to soldiers and that suggests other ways of expressing support.

It also contains a welcoming message that states: “For too long, conservatives have lacked a permanent political presence to do battle with the radical special interests groups and their left-wing allies in government.”

“We have a policy that prohibits acceptance of advertising that deals with issues of public controversy,” Wurtzel said. “This particular ad, in and of itself, is fine. It thanks the troops for their action overseas. We asked them to eliminate a URL address where a person is asked to contact elected officials and told not to cut and run on the war on terror.”

NBC rejected a previous Freedom’s Watch ad that addressed funding for the troops.

“It’s a long-term policy, it goes back decades,” Wurtzel said of NBC’s stance of declining controversial issue advertising.

In an apparent reversal of “decades long tradition,” it looks like NBC is prepared to cave in on the Freedoms Watch ad due to the overwhelming outrage by its patrons and viewers.

While this sounds like a wonderful move on the part of NBC, I have yet to hear confirmation on this and despite any small gesture they might offer to save what little viewership they have remaining, I am quite certain they will continue being a bunch of Neo Bastard Commies airing leftist propaganda as has been their “decades long tradition.”

IT’S hard for Hollywood pacifists like Brian De Palma to capture the hearts and minds of America if Americans won’t see their movies. While the public is staying away in droves from “Rendition,” “Lions for Lambs” and “In the Valley of Elah,” audiences are really avoiding “Redacted,” De Palma’s picture about US soldiers who rape a 14-year-old Iraqi girl, then kill her and her family. The message movie was produced by NBA Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who insisted on deleting grisly images of Iraqi war casualties from the montage at the film’s end. Cuban offered to sell the film back to De Palma at cost, but the director was too smart to go for that deal. “Redacted” – which “could be the worst movie I’ve ever seen,” said critic Michael Medved -took in just $25,628 in its opening weekend in 15 theaters, which means roughly 3,000 people saw it in the entire country. “This, despite an A-list director, a huge wave of publicity, high praise in the Times, The New Yorker, left-leaning sites like Salon, etc. A Joe Strummer documentary [of punk-rock band The Clash] playing in fewer theaters made more in its third week,” e-mailed one cineaste. “Not even people who presumably agree with the movie’s antiwar thesis made the effort to see it.”

New Australian PM signals Iraq pullout

AUSTRALIA’S new prime minister Kevin Rudd will mark his arrival on the international stage by announcing the withdrawal of his country’s combat troops from Iraq and signing the Kyoto treaty on climate change.

Rudd, a republican and former diplomat, swept to power as his Labor party stormed to a landslide victory in yesterday’s elections.

Official figures showed Labor had won more than 53% of the vote, compared with just under 47% for the ruling Liberal coalition of John Howard, who had served four terms as prime minister but lost his seat. Computer projections forecast that Labor would secure 86 seats in the 150-seat lower house of parliament.

Rudd, 50, who has been called a “Tone Clone” for his similarities to Tony Blair on policy, told cheering supporters that the electorate had decided to “write a new page in our nation’s history”.

Howard, who dominated Australia’s political scene for more than a decade, was accused of misreading the mood of voters who wanted change despite a booming economy.

CHRISTMAS IS ONLY A MONTH AWAY!!!

It isn’t very often anymore that I give kudos to the History Channel. For the past several years they have been on what appears to be a ruthless campaign to bash Christianity, dispel God as a myth, showcase evolutionist and environmentalist propaganda, portray America as a country founded by a bunch of racists, bigots, rednecks and homophobes, and they have even gone as far as attempting to rewrite history in favor of leftist politics. However, where they often lack in terms of Christan and political accuracy, they more than make up for in their honor of the American soldier.

Just as they usually do every Veterans Day, Memorial Day, anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, anniversary of D-Day, and other similarly significant days, the History Channel does a commendable job in their honoring of those who have sacrificed so much for the sake of securing our freedom. Along with other shows like retired Gunnery Sgt. R. Lee Emery’s military Q & A expo “Mail Call,” “Dogfights,” and the acclaimed docudrama “Band of Brothers,” the History Channel has given an acceptable amount of balance to its otherwise atheistic and left leaning programing and for that reason, it has deservingly earned a coveted spot on my remote control’s favorites list.

This evening’s programing showcased one such fine example. In honor of present day veterans, The History Channel aired a program focused directly on our soldiers blogging from today’s battlefields called “Band of Bloggers” which highlights their experiences and their contribution to keeping us informed on what’s really going on over there… from the soldier’s point of view. With the exception of one soldier being quoted saying that he was there to make sure we had cheap gas here at home, the remainder of the program was a glowing review of the purpose and commitment these people have to the difficult and dangerous missions they face every day.

Those of you who visit this website know that I provide a multitude of links relating to the various branches of the United States Military as well as several banners linking to blogs that I visit on a regular basis which focus on the daily experiences of our troops on the battlefield. Sites like the Mudville Gazette, the Command Post, Michael Yon, and Black Five go into the daily struggles, tragedies, accomplishments and victories of our brave warriors as they fight to make this world a safer place to live, free from the tyranny of those who wish to enslave us or murder us outright. It keeps me in touch with the realities our soldiers face and gives me an honest “boots on the ground” perspective straight from the front lines of the WOT. It also allows me the opportunity to give them the much needed support they deserve to complete their important mission.

God Bless and Protect Our Brave Troops!!!

BTW: Keep in mind this weekend as you are out and about to make a point of thanking a vet for their service and their sacrifice for our safety and our freedom.

For any of you who do not know who Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich is, rest assured, there isn’t much in the way of positive comment that can be directed toward this treasonous little utopian crack-pot save the fact that his wife looks like a super model (…which makes one question her sanity as well). This ridiculous individual is so far to the left that he makes Hillary Clinton look like Ann Coulter.

His position on dealing with murderous dictators is much like that of how Neville Chamberlain dealt with Adolf Hitler in the 1930’s. He honestly believes that by appeasing evil, he can persuade them to gather around his campfire, roast marshmallows and sing Kum Ba Yah ’til the cows come home.

Back in June, the House of Representatives voted on a resolution condemning Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his insane rhetoric against the State of Israel, urging the UN Security Council to charge him under genocide conventions. The non-binding resolution passed 411-2 and Dennis Kucinich was one of the two who voted against it. In expressing his opposition to the resolution, Kucinich insisted that an alternative translation by The New York Times and Middle East Media Research Institute be read into the congressional record which made Ahmadinejad’s speech calling for the destruction of Israel sound like an invitation to a potato sack race.

Back in the summer of 2004, Kucinich, along with Jesse Jackson, Ed “commie” Asner, historian Howard Zinn and number of other hard-core leftists issued an open letter directed to Venezuelan Dictator Hugo Chavez, declaring their solidarity with him and denouncing the United States for interfering with Venezuela’s “internal affairs.” The letter also went on to glorify Chavez’s leadership and recognize his socialist regime as a “model democracy.”

Two months ago in the Middle East, Kucinich thought it would be a good idea to play diplomat in Syria – following the footsteps of Nancy Pelosi – in order to bash the Bush administration for the WOT and its “illegal occupation” of Iraq…

“I feel the United States is engaging in an illegal occupation … I don’t want to bless that occupation with my presence,” Kucinich said in Lebanon, according to the Associated Press. “I will not do it.”

The Ohio congressman accused the Bush administration of destabilizing the Middle East and praised Syria for receiving Iraqi refugees.

“What most people are not aware of is that Syria has taken in more than 1.5 million Iraqi refugees,” Kucinich said, according to the AP. “The Syrian government has actually shown a lot of compassion in keeping its doors open and being a host for so many refugees.”

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich has claimed to have seen a UFO, according to Shirley MacLaine in her new book, “Sage-Ing While Age-Ing.”

Kucinich “had a close sighting over my home in Graham, Washington, when I lived there,” the actress, a close Kucinich friend, wrote. “Dennis found his encounter extremely moving. The smell of roses drew him out to my balcony where, when he looked up, he saw a gigantic triangular craft, silent, and observing him.

“It hovered, soundless, for 10 minutes or so, and sped away with a speed he couldn’t comprehend. He said he felt a connection in his heart and heard directions in his mind.”

“I seriously believe we have to start asking questions about his mental health,” Kucinich, an Ohio congressman, said in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer’s editorial board on Tuesday. “There’s something wrong. He does not seem to understand his words have real impact.”

Russia Warns Against Space Weapons

MOSCOW — The chief of Russia’s space forces on Thursday said Moscow would have to retaliate if others deploy weapons in space — a stern warning to the United States.

While Col.-Gen. Vladimir Popovkin did not name any specific country, he was clearly referring to U.S. plans for space-based weapons, which the Kremlin had vociferously opposed.

“We don’t want to wage a war in space, we don’t want to gain dominance in space, but we won’t allow any other nation to dominate space,” Popovkin said in televised remarks. “If any country deploys weapons in space, then the laws of warfare are such that retaliatory weapons are certain to appear.”

President Vladimir Putin has criticized U.S. plans for space-based weapons, saying it could trigger a new arms race.

When China tested an anti-satellite missile in January, Putin said that the move was a response to U.S. plans for space-based weapons.

Russia and China have strongly pushed for an international agreement banning space weapons, but their proposals have been stymied by the United States.

“It’s necessary to legalize the game rules in space,” Popovkin said. He warned that the complexity of space weapons could trigger a war.

TEHRAN (AFP) — President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday declared Iran had mastered nuclear technology and would never yield in the face of international pressure over its atomic drive.

Ahmadinejad’s comments in an interview with Iranian television were broadcast hours after French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner warned the world should brace for war over Iran, although he did not react to those remarks.

“Of course we will not step back,” said Ahmadinejad in the interview with Iran’s Farsi language international channel Jam-e Jam in response to a call-in question by a viewer.

“We have mastered the technology to enrich uranium and we have arrived at an industrial stage,” he added.

“The West are talking about imposing sanctions on us. But they cannot do this,” he added.

The Iranian leader repeated a demand for a public debate with US President George W. Bush to “discuss important global issues with the aim of resolving them.”

“I had already suggested this the previous year. I am going to New York. Let us sit down together and hold discussions. But not behind closed doors. I have suggested that we discuss these global issues at the UN General Assembly to resolve them.

As witnessed by the UN’s ineffectiveness against Saddam Hussein prior to us going over there and giving him the proper ass kicking he deserved, UN deliberation has become nothing more than a decoy for dictators to buy time. Meanwhile, every day that passes gives them more opportunity to prepare for the inevitable which ultimately will translate in more casualties for us. I can only pray that we don’t make the same mistake we made in 2003 by giving our enemy such a dangerous advantage.

There are some things today that are simply unacceptable. Offering olive branches to those who are committed to evil is one of them. History has shown that when you offer cease fires to a bunch of murderous thugs and Muslim extremists, more bloodshed follows. Just look at the problems the Israelis are continuing to have with those who seek their absolute destruction. Is it any wonder why there never seems to be any permanent resolution with that region of the world? Offering concessions to terrorists is like giving freedoms to disobedient children. You give them an inch, they’re always determined to take a mile.

TEL AVIV – Washington’s announcement of talks with Iraqi militants about a cease-fire arrangement is a “big victory” for the insurgency and demonstrates the U.S. now recognizes the legitimacy of so-called terror groups, Palestinian terrorist leaders told WND.

In a briefing with reporters earlier today, Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno said U.S. commanders at all levels are being empowered to reach out for talks with militants, tribes, religious leaders and others, including insurgents and sectarian rivals.

“We are talking about cease-fires, and maybe signing some things that say they won’t conduct operations against the government of Iraq or against coalition forces,” Odierno told reporters in a video conference from Baghdad.

Reacting to Odierno’s announcement, Muhammad Abdel-El, spokesman and a leader of the Popular Resistance Committees terror group, called truce talks with insurgents “a big victory for the resistance.”

“Americans are recognizing the resistance, the same resistance that they before called terrorism; now they are dealing with them, and this is the recognition of Iraqi resistance and recognition by the Americans of their own loss in Iraq,” said Abdel-El. …

All a cease fire does is give the bad guys a chance to regroup and rearm for the next battle. The Israeli war against the terrorists in souther Lebanon last summer and the chaos in the Gaza Strip following the “land for peace” deal was proof positive of that obvious fact. Not to mention what happened in Fallujah, Iraq. The cease fire agreement with the insurgents after the first time we went in there to root them out didn’t work and our forces had to go in there a second time, which translated into more casualties for our troops. Since the second invasion, military control has been backed off and today, “Mookie” al Sadr is back to his old tricks by whipping up American resistance and anti-democratization forces.

Olive branches don’t work! The only way for peace to exist is for there to be total and complete victory over evil! There are NO other acceptable options!

And so, as a reminder to others out there that I am committed to victory over terrorism and will feverishly demand that our government give no quarter to terrorist forces, I’ve created a banner to be placed on my left sidebar as a reminder to all that peace is only accomplished through complete victory over evil.
